Special Olympics Summer Games are June 7-8

special-olympicsMore than 1,300 athletes from around the state will be at the University of Richmond on June 7-8 for the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games.

This is the biggest competition of the year and includes sports such as swimming, power-lifting, softball, track & field, bowling, and tennis.

The Special Olympics is seeking fans to show up and cheer on the athletes as they run, jump and swim their way to glory.

The opening ceremony is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. June 7 at the University of Richmond’s Robins Center, 23A Boatwright Drive.

On June 8, events run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at UofR.
