Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan to Hold Rally in Short Pump Friday

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan has announced plans to hold a campaign rally Friday morning at Deep Run High School. Mitt Romney’s freshly-minted choice as running mate was in the area just days ago at a rally in Ashland at Randolph-Macon College. And while Romney won’t be in attendance, he won’t be flying solo while in Richmond by any means.

NBC News reported this past weekend that Ryan would be in town for a fundraiser with Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Whether either of the governors will be in attendance at Ryan’s Short Pump event is unclear at this point in time.

Short Pump has been host to a number of GOP candidates over the past four years. Sarah Palin held a rally at Deep Run while on the campaign trail in 2008. Once hopeful Republican nominee Newt Gingrich also visited the Far West End this past spring at a breakfast held at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa near Short Pump Town Center.

The “Victory Rally with Paul Ryan and the Republican Team” will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning. Doors open at 9:00 a.m.

Tickets are free, and guests are asked to RSVP here. Deep Run High School is located at 4801 Twin Hickory Road in Glen Allen.
