Free Recycle Day at the RMA this Friday, Nov. 16

=”120″ height=”78″ />Retail Merchants Association and Keep Virginia Beautiful (KVB) have teamed up to join the national recycling event known as “America Recycles Day.” The RMA and KVB are hosting a free drive-through recycling event Friday, Nov. 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the RMA’s parking lot at 5101 Monument Ave, Richmond, VA, 23230. Businesses and individuals can bring their unwanted electronics, documents for on-site shredding and general recyclables.

Participants may bring up to one pick-up truck full of electronics until the trailers are full, so people are encouraged to come early. Everyone is allowed to bring up to three grocery bags or boxes full of documents for shredding.

The following items may be brought for recycling:

• Computers and monitors
• Cell phones
• Consumer electronics
• TVs
• Printers
• DVD players & VCRs
• Fax machines
• Stereos
• Household electronics (i.e., microwaves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, etc.)
• Documents (free shredding)
• Paper
• Cardboard
• Plastic bags
• Plastic and glass bottles
• Aluminum and steel cans
• Jars

The following items are NOT allowed:

• Items containing freon
• Items with sludge or liquids
• Dehumidifiers
• Household hazardous waste
• Non-decontaminated medical equipment
• Radioactive units, such as smoke alarms and detectors
