Contractor Fighting for Life After Being Nearly Electrocuted in West End Neighborhood


A contractor who was installing siding on a home in a West End neighborhood is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after coming in contact with an electrical wire around 9:00 a.m. this morning.

The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Harbourough Road, between Gayton Road and Patterson Avenue, when the contractor, a man in his mid-20s, came in contact with a 20,000 volt power line while moving scaffolding.

He was transported to VCU Medical Center, where he is still undergoing treatment for injuries including severe burns.

114 Dominion Virginia Power customers also lost power due to to the incident.
