A number of new restaurants and stores have opened over the past several weeks in Short Pump, from fast food to sit-down, local to chains. Here’s a rundown of what’s opened (or soon to open) and where around the Far West End.
In The Corner at Short Pump shopping center at West Broad Street and Lauderdale Drive, Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us are completing work on a combined mega store that should open in the next several weeks. The retailer is closing the Toys “R” Us location near Regency Square Mall and the Babies “R” Us location in the Tuckernuck Square shopping center further east on West Broad Street in advance of the new openings.
Across the parking lot in the same center, Richmond-based Q Barbecue is wrapping up work on a new location. This will be the barbecue restaurant’s fourth location. In an adjacent building, salad chain Saladworks recently opened, next door to Genghis Grill, a build your own Mongolian stir fry chain.
In West Broad Village, work is wrapping up on Carytown-based Bombshell Brazilian Waxing and Beauty Lounge. The new salon will be located next to Keagan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant on Old Brick Road.
Across the street in the Brookhollow shopping center, Sonic Drive-In opened two weeks ago to a line of cars that wrapped around the building’s drive-thru and filled carhop spaces. The fast food favorite’s construction was the most read article on our site several months ago.
